Tourmaline-Needle Topaz on Albite & Schorl – Shigar Valley Pakistan

Perched on chalk-white albite blades, a single orthorhombic topaz crystal (22 mm across) glows with exceptional glassy lustre. Internally, a confetti of fine, olive-to-moss-green tourmaline needles radiates through the gemstone, creating dramatic phantom lines that shift as the crystal catches the light. A few thicker schorl prisms pierce the matrix, echoing the inclusions and framing the piece. Such “speared” topaz is a rare jackpot in Pakistan’s pegmatite pockets, where tourmaline typically grows separate from the gem species.
