Raw, Rough, uncut emerald.  From Brumado District, Bahia, Brazil. A lustrous translucent dark-green subparallel emerald crystals with remnants of quartz biotite included in the surfaces.

Emeralds are a variety of the mineral species Beryl. Trace amounts of chromium is what usually colors emeralds, though vanadium can sometimes color them too. Emeralds do not have a wide range of colors. The definition of emerald requires a green color. Not yellow, orange, or blue, but green.
