Aquamarine Shard in Albite with Smoky-Quartz Remnant & Garnet Flecks
Dimensions:
x xA pale-blue aquamarine fragment peeks from a chunky snow-white albite block, flanked by a broken smoky-quartz face and sprinkled with brick-red garnet chips—an honest, “as-found” slice of alpine pegmatite.
Although less sculptural than showy display pieces, this cabinet-miniature tells a rich geologic story. The ice-blue beryl (≈ 11 mm) shows natural pocket etching and partial cleavage, evidence of tectonic stress after crystallisation. Around it, granular albite preserves frozen melt textures, while a shattered smoky-quartz point hints at pocket collapse. Scattered almandine–spessartine garnet blebs on the underside add warm contrast and confirm a manganese-bearing fluid pulse late in the pegmatite’s life. At 227 g, the specimen is large enough for educational display yet priced for beginning pegmatite collectors.
