Golden Rutile ‘Constellation’ Quart, 69 g - Novo Horizonte, Bahia, Brazil

Cut from the famed rutile veins of Novo Horizonte, this 4.8 cm miniature balances water-clear transparency with a striking density of golden needles. At the sharply terminated apex, isolated rutile strands flash like meteors against mirror-bright growth panes, while the prism’s mid-section hosts three-dimensional sprays that radiate outward, forming “constellations” suspended in glass. Toward the base the quartz encloses globular nests where rutile fibres intertwine with micron-scale hematite and goethite, creating a warm bronze glow that contrasts with the crystal’s colourless upper half. All faces are natural and unpolished; only a minor contact on the back hints at its former matrix. Under a pen-light, the needles shimmer with coppery gold and reveal delicate spectral reflections from internal fracture planes—an arresting example of Bahia’s best rutile-in-quartz.
