Golden Rutile “Solar Flare” Quartz, 151g Novo Horizonte, Bahia, Brazil

A cabinet-sized quartz cluster streaked with fiery golden rutile; three lustrous terminations rise from a smoky-amber core like sunbeams piercing morning mist.

From the legendary rutile pockets of Novo Horizonte comes this 6 cm “Solar Flare” cluster: three inter-grown prisms—each sporting razor-sharp faces—enclose a galaxy of golden­–bronze needles. The tallest crystal is optically clear toward its apex, revealing isolated rutile strands that glitter like meteor trails, while lower sections glow warm amber where dense sprays of fibers radiate from hematite seed plates. Subtle smoky zoning accentuates the contrast between the sun-colored inclusions and the glassy host, and a drusy skirt of micro-quartz rounds out the piece at the rear. A single contact on the back records the point of release from its matrix; otherwise the terminations remain unpolished and complete. Under a spotlight the rutile erupts in coppery flashes—an arresting, larger example of Bahia’s finest inclusion quartz.
