Pale-Blue Topaz & Smoky Quartz on Albite – Large Shigar Valley Cluster
Dimensions:
x xFrom the famed high-altitude pegmatites of Shigar Valley comes this hefty 537-gram showpiece. Two orthorhombic topaz crystals (largest ≈ 32 mm) exhibit a misty ice-blue core with lustrous bevelled terminations and lightly etched prism faces—a textbook signature of fluorine-rich fluids. Adjoining them are hexagonal smoky-quartz points coloured warm grey-brown by natural radiation. A backdrop of sugary albite hosts radiating stacks of pale-green muscovite, while micro schorl needles and hematitic “peach-skin” dusting add subtle accents on the reverse. All crystals are unrepaired; the topaz shows only pocket-polish frosting on non-display faces, and the smoky terminations are intact. Excellent colour contrast and geology-in-hand teaching value make this a centre-stage cabinet specimen or advanced study piece.
